Elle Magazine - Breastfeeding Model Mum Nicole Trunfio on cover Posted on 3 Jun 08:02
Elle magazine has always had an international market, but now they are in Australia, I feel like they've been flying under the mag radar - until now.
Right after Nicole Trunfio appeared in 4 outfits in one day at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, everyone who didn't know who she was now does. Elle, celebrating the natural true beauty of a woman features Nicole Trunfio breastfeeding her son Zion. Entirely accidentally, but never the less - sheer brilliance.
While bright coloured background and metallic fonts graced the June cover of magazine racks battled for attention, Elle, timelessly showcased something even more beautiful. A naked baby, and a breast feeding Mum. It went viral for all the right reasons, and we are super chuffed Elle has taken this stand, although the breastfeeding image was only afforded to the Elle subscribers, who understood the Elle magazine philosophy, where as the newsstand opted for the tamer version below.
Of course, it would have been nice to see baby Zion sporting a Boob Beanie, but this somewhat may have drawn away attention from the italian Prada woven threads Nicole Trunfio was wearing.
Cudos Nicole and cudos Elle. We are so pro breastfeeding, but more importantly a woman's choice to breastfeed is personal. If only the person who told me "to put it away" while I was breastfeeding my little man could see this magazine cover.
Yes - showing less skin that popular Men's magazines cover models, this model is all class and redefines the meaning of being an aspirational role model.
While Justine Cullen, magazine editor insisted it it wasn't a publicity stunt "This wasn't a contrived situation. Zion needed a feed, Nicole gave it to him, and when we saw how beautiful they looked, we simply moved her on to the set," she said. "It was a completely natural moment that resulted in a powerful picture."
And we couldn't agree more.
